Hey Guys

How to choose your breeding stock how you know that this imprint is a good size or a small one is it just looking at the parent or there is other ways what you need to look for when you buying your breeding stock.

Hi there

The first thing you would look at is the birds genetics! Is the mother and grandmother good colouration and of good stature and same with the father and grandfather! We have found that you could have a Black gyr, however one of the granparents could be white and so it is possible that a third generation black bird can throw a white, so genetics is extremly important. The other aspects to look at is the diet that the bird has been fed, the way it has been raised, is it imprint, dual imprint parent reared, make sure you read up on these details to ensure you know what your getting into!
If you want to get into imprints then are you willing to put the time and effort into getting close to the bird to do inseminations or fdrom attaining semen from the males etc.
there just some of the thing that we look for when ataining our breeding stock!

There are many diffrent ways sometimes its just a matter os asking what lines the bird is from, and often it is more of who you know, dna testing also can help in this modern day and age! We generally buy our falcons from other breeders who have been breeding for quite some time and know there stock well.
