Hi guys and girls
a few mates have told me over the past two weeks or so they had seen an owl while out rabbiting so decided to have a look for my self...
and its right some poor ****** as lost a bueatiful snowey owl in the woodlands near my house i am trying at mo to coax it with day olds and rats but no joy....i have contacted local agencys to see if the owner as reported this bird missing and had a quick browse over the ibr..cant see anything

this owl is in the moult as far as i can tell fair few feathers under the big oak its sat in and must be feeding well on the field mice and rabbits up there but still needs returning to either its keeper or if they are too dumb to know its missing ...then to a expirenced keeper i personally would love to keep it if i can coax it to me but want to find its owner first......

so if any one you know in the leeds or surrounding area as lost a snowey owl this may be it i cant give ring numbers for obvious reasons but if and when i catch it i will be asking for them from anyone who claims its theres so please all ask people or keep an eye out for the news of this missing bueaty thanks ...spud

ps i will keep updating this thread with info...and also checking for info given

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME FIND THIS BIRDS OWNER...SPUD

so do i darren but how do you coax down a bird thats learned to feed its self mate as hunger is no longer a factor to work with trapping is totally out of my skills and is dangerous for the bird too.....unless done by a raptor expert edited...added info...all so trapping is ileagel to my knowlage...dont know if this counts to captive breds but still i wouldent try..spud

Snowy owls are not native to the Leeds area there for it must be captured. Use a bow net trap very simple and effective.

It is illegal to trap the bird once it's been in the wild for a certain amount of time (whether native, captive or not!). Another stupid law to contend with!! As far as I'm aware a special license is required now to catch it.

Nobody knows how long it has bin in the wild.

over the past two weeks or so
I think the time allowed is 2 weeks or less! Might be wrong but I know it's not long at all.

That can't be. As long as I try to find the bird, via advertisement etc. I can catch it up and it stays my property.

Whether you like it or not (and it is a stupid regulation) that is the law. And again, it is NEVER your property, if the real owner comes forward in 20 years time and can prove it is their bird then they have the legal right to have that bird back!

ok so we have covered it cant be caught up in a trap(which im not prepared to do anyway) and that the law states it cant be anyway without special licencing so how would one go about catching this bird

and i know snoweys are not native to leeds there not native to england as far as im aware scotland yes but i havent heard of any wild snowey owls in england but then again i may be wrong...
im after finding its owner as if he/she is a traind bird keeper then they will possably be able to call it back(hopefull i know) but if not how would i get it without trapping before one of the local scrotes starts thinking it good to shoot at...not good.....spud
