Hi All,
Ive been lucky enough to be the proud owner of a baby european eagle owl for the last 2 weeks - he is doing fine - eating a good varied diet and putting on weight. Im doing a falconry course as well. However Ive not been able to get hold of the guy doing my course for a few days and junior has started casting pellets. Ive checked my books and they arent much help so far.
So my query is - should I be still feeding at the regularity I am just now (4-5 meals a day) or should I be waiting until he gets rid of the pellet first. Im just worried I might cause him a problem by overfeeding him - he is a very good little eater. Hid diet consists of rats, mice and the odd chick thrown in for a bit of variety.
Other than that we are doing fine! He is doing little flaps and hops around the living room floor when Im cleaning out his "playpen" and is rather fond of sitting watching the cookery programmes on TV in the evening. He has gotten used to the dogs and they are very entertained by him. His aviary is well in progress and should be ready by the time he is old enough to go out in it.
