Ive had to prize my buzzard's feet off my face once when I got high jumping wrong. Scratched me to the side of my eye and got a good grip of my cheek. Luckily didn't break the skin.

Welcome to the world of pain mate
You have been lucky, but just learn from it, with some birds you just can't let your guard down, most of us have been there at one time or another,I know I have.

Been had a few times (nothing ever serious) but each time was due to me doing something I shouldn't have been. We learn by our mistakes?

Oh well Brian, it wont be the last time mate! all the ferru's i have flown kill by disembowelment, and i cant physically get to the kill before the guts are showing.

The Ferrru's beak is very powerful just like the Bald Eagle and great respect should be shown?

Wait till you get proper footed, now that is pain!!!!!!

HAve Fun!

Even with the pain of a facial injury, it seems to make you feel happy that you've not lost an eye. After one close encounter myself - it certainly sharpen's up all handling techniques and hopefully it won't happen again.

that looks bad bud , i swear to God mate something my grandmother and grandma used to warn me and my cousins about is not to loose an eye to falcons , hawks or specially eagles when the circus folk used to come round to stay in their farms when we used to go their for hols , that was close mate

yes u knew she was mean my friend, she nearly killed her mate, remember i saw the state of the poor sod when i went to the falconry part of the reason they sold her

and they always do say the ferugs r a good bird to handle and tame before u go onto an eagle coz of their weight and being a lil vicious of course

i hope it doesnt leave a scar bud

by the way steven was saying he will swap a bird for the ferug he asked me that a few weeks back and i said to him he just got it i doubt he will swap it
