Q: what is the weirdest thing your bird has caught?
OutFlying

can't answer that, you don't know who's reading - but it was unusual for a male gos..............

Over the past year Ben is certainly hell bound on one account and possibly on three others as well!
I am in trouble for one 'thing' that Cody managed to catch whilst on his bow perch on the lawn and under my supervision.

I had a Gabar Goshawk that would only fly butterflies and bees! A bu,blebee killed him in the end, stung him in the crop! I also had a spar that slipped on a Whites thrush ( a very rare vagrant) that was being watched by a load of twitchers, luckily didn't catch it but I wasn't too popular.
A bit of a dodgy thread this. People better think before they put anything up. You never know who will read it.
I have an eagle owl who catches leaves in the autumn when they are yellow and falling off the trees. Probably thinks they are flying DoC. Not sure if that counts but he does get quite good at it and i have a laugh

what exactly is the law if your hawk catches someones cat or something on private land. Are you responsible even though it was an accident. Also, if you are on private land and a chicken from next door wanders over and gets nailed, what is the law.
Oh the stangest thing my hawk ever caught is me, hoping i would bleed to deah. I doubt anything is weird than me.....JABBERWOCKY SPORK, see
If UK law is anything like here then what is on your land is yours so nothing can be said about it if the private land you are referring to is your own land!
Goldie  kadabra does that too and he great fun in the snow believe it or not. we had huge snowflakes this year and he sat on his post, his head spinning everywhere then he pounced like a flea to catch em all. Very hilarious. But those crunchy leaves have to be the best game!
What is really funny is when he sees a woodlice (i think that is what they are called). he runs after them but once they sense danger they just stop and he goes frantic looking for them. weird but extremely funny.

If you are on Private land with the permission of the land owner to what ever! and someones cat strays over or a dog; and your bird decides it chow time and kill, mames the animal, there is nothing that can be done.
When I go shooting, we always phone it through to the police for a ref. no., they always ask what are we going to shoot; we always state, "vermin............, fox, rabbit, corvids, pigeon etc. plus anything that shouldn't be there or worrying/attacking the livestock."
I have asked my FAO what would happen if we shot a dog that was running amuck etc. and was told that if we had proof , video or photographic evidence we would be in the clear......................

Bubo I have a nice name for Woodlice, I don't know why but I have always called them Choogie Pigs.
Albie..
Choogie Pigs.
Albie..
haha that is sweet! when my sister was very little she called them silent nighters??? the name has just stuck for some reason. the flying daddy longlegs '(another made up name) was initially baptised willie wooters by my grandad and i believe that is what they were really called for ages. Actually i still dont know there real name and have only really replaced that name with something more stupid

The strangest thing my eagle owl "caught" was a string bean. We were snapping them on the porch readying them for supper. One snapped out of the basket and she caught it mid air. She played with that thing in her foot for about 2 hours til it disintergrated. Beyond that, she is very fond of placing tennis balls in her bath.
