hello, everyone.

I am new to this board so first I would like to say hello. I am from the U.S and have been a falconer for 2 years now. I am a general class now and am looking into taking a GHO for hunting. My sponsor has hunted with them in the past, but it was a loong loong time ago..and at his age he says they didnt even have permits way back then. :) So I thought it would be wise to get as much information I can on the GHO before deciding to surrely dedicate myself to one.
If anyone know of any good literature, or posts of hand that will help me answer any of the many questiones I may have ..that would be greatly appreciated. any personal expierances would be nice to hear aswell.
I know nothing on these guys..so basics like... Mew modifications (i previously flew RT's) to suit GHO, husbandry..taking eyass(when and where to look), What am i looking at, in terms of feeding, how often? am I aloud to release back to the wild?? biology, hunting, EVERything and anything you think I should know

Thanks alot, Swann

Welcome Swann!

Hope you find everything you are looking for. What birds have you flown?

welcome,

I have a question: do you want to hunt with a great horned owl who's caught in the wild. Or with one who's born in captivity?

hello and welcome to the forum. Here is some background info on wild GHO's

http://www.owlpages.com/species/bubo/virginianus/Default.htm

I would also like to add that as from 1 august 2005 the GHO will be on the protected species list and permits will be needed as from this date. Now i'm not sure if that is for every state or if each state has their own regs. You can pm me if you need more info on the owl in general. As for hunting with one, i cant help you there as i have never done it.
