Hi,just want to let people know that there is a pair of peregrine falcons nesting in preston lancs for the forth year in a row,in previous years they have been both unsuccesful and succesful in rearing young, this year has surprised everyone because the female has laid 5 eggs,my question is does anyone else know of these birds laying that many eggs, also this year the RSPB have set some cameras up so we can all enjoy watching these beautiful birds rearing this years young.:supz:

Contact your local police wildlife liason officer as well. They can do more than the rspb, like inform the people who own the land/building etc, regarding the law about schedule 1 species. The rspb are not the law even though they think they are.Dave

with all respects , I had a pair of barn owls nesting in a barn of mine. A friend of mine was a member of RSPBA, and he wanted to film them, I refused, DO NOT INTERFERE is My motto. Leave well alone, Who wants crowds etc disturbed nesting sites etc?

your right there, the police wildlife officer is involved with the preston birds, last year 1 youngster fell out or bullied out of the nest, someone found it alive and handed it to an injured bird of prey sanctury Barn owl bill was his name i think, and when the wildlife officer found out who had it he went there and took it off him and sent it somewhere else where i beleive it made a full recovery.:supz:

I agree, i'd never let the rspb know, they would turn it into a circus, and flog the peregrine to the unknowing public about what a rare bird it is:twisted:

I agree with you that birds should be left alone but who can stop them,(rspb) they go up to the nest at least 3 times a year checkng the eggs then the chicks, size, weight, ringing them etc, and if they put a camera up there so you can watch them on the net then i will, i have also watched this on other nesting sites, on the net derbyshire cathederal is one of them.:)

BTO's Nest Records data say 2% of 613 clutches were of 5 eggs,
measured 1966-2006
