I live in Santiago, Chile...but for working reasons i travel a lot so I know a great part of my country....
Here the city is flanked by the mighty Andes mountains at the east, there are many raptors around...
On the mountain hill sides we go huntig with our prabuteos, that we call for the native name špeucoš...With them we hunt rabbits, tinamous, quail and other prey, lots of fun running along the mountain hillsides , the peucos soaring high and stooping at a rabbit some 300 meters away...next one flushes from a bush under you feet, there she goes and catch them right before they start climbing those rocks ...or reach that hole...
On the valley we release german shorthair Gina...she finds the tracks ..she points....and my aplo is turning 50 meters above...gina flushes the tinamou, they flight really fast, with after-burner power!!!....and the tiny falcons stoops, a short and precise strike, i dont know how this tiercel manages to grab the head of the top speed bursting tinamou...
Falconry does not have a legal slot on this country...but is legal to practice it if you own a bird legally obtained and you have a regular hunting license, wich means that you know the hunting regulations...and respect them...
One good thing here is that this is not a popular activity, so population of wild raptos have not the same presure that is so strong in other countries of this part of the world...
Bye for now.
