Hi All
Thought i would kick this one off, I will tell my story very shortly ..... but I am still sorting out the problem at the moment. I will put a full account of how I have been treated by a certain breeder as soon as its come to a conclusion.
But, meanwhile, do you have an account of whats happened to you in 2005 ....from
1. When you ordered your Hawk/falcon.
2. What were you promised on delivery of the Hawk/Falcon ie A10 promised on pick up.
3. How much deposit did you pay.
4. What reason or situation was given for non delivery of Hawk or Falcon.
5. Did you get your deposit back from the Breeder/Dealer or any equipment that you sent to put on the bird on delivery/pickup.
Anything else that you wish to mention that I have not listed then please go ahead....IF you wish to name the Breeder/Dealer then you do so out of your own choice.

c mon griff spill the beans
Wouldn't say i have been let down. I have found that a lot of breeders have had a bit of bad luck this year for 1 reason or another. It took 3 attempts to find someone who had a tiercel from this year and they came to me

not let down as it wasn't their fault, but it was bloody annoying when at the very last second i phoned to confirm a visit and was told he didn't get a male afterall....he could of phoned a few weeks earlier, and not promised he always gets a male lol. Either way now i am glad because i am getting a RT, and don't regret it for a second.

I'm quite sure Griff will tell all when the fine points have been cleared up.
Lets just say it had nothing to do with bad luck

I am due to pick up a bird from falcon mews , but i have received a very poor service so far from them.
I was third on list for a female. They didn't bother telling me i had one or if i was successful until i sent two emails.
They cashed two cheques and only sent a receipt for one. ......i have since received a confirmation of this by email because i asked.
I sent them a very polite email asking questions about the bird such as pick up date and age and again have they a bird for me?
Received a email saying we will give you 100% answers on Monday! three weeks later i had to email them again only to receive a 2 sentence reply with no information "except pick up end of July"
The part that made my hackles rise was there was no "hello" or "goodbye" or no name in the reply.
No courtesy at all.
I have received good reports from them elsewhere so i don't know if this is a exception. I realize they are busy but that is no excuse.

I'd give Griff at the Welsh Hawking centre the thumbs up every time.
Top class service, top class birds, what more can I say.
I'm afraid the attitude that I have had from some of the other breeders.......absolutely stinks, at the very least!
I arranged the purchase of some large Gyr hybrids for my friends in the middle east, the attitude I got from most sucked.......Griff was friendly helpful and got the sale......I wouldn't waste my time with most of the others any longer, as far as I am concerned, they don't deserve it.
I also get hacked off listening to everyone defending them, saying they are busy, they get lots of time wasters etc etc, as far as I am concerned, you just don't do business like that.
7, 8, 9, 10.........deep breath........I feel much better now!

No surprise there... any breeder that takes orders of a guy that has been dead for over 30 years must be desperate for the business.

I will be doing, but this guy has still not sent back my kit and deposit as he promised he would do.... if he does not in the next week it will be a small claims court action.

can back this one as most know on here was sposed to be getting a male hh but alsa nope not happerning his price was cool 250 for the male but he wants you to buy day olds from him at a very high price...this is only the first fault you cant get contact with him as easy as the first time you ring and ask about a bird and then they must take six years to be old enougth to leave as its allways another six weeks another twelve weeks there not ready yet deposit was 150 down and when i did get my cash back he said he can sort out another for you..so ummm no thanks...spud
How many people really do breed pure 100% fin gosses, once you start checking up you find that its 1/4 this 3/4 that, some of the "pure" fin gosses look more like a starling cross-----bet this opens up a can of worms----------nothing to do with the above, but can any one tell me who was the bloke with the canary hair do at s/palace Scotland,i wasn't there but word is hes bringing the image of falconry down,it must have been some "hair do", i know it wasn't AKB

I think its a good thing that there are not too many pure finnish lines going in this country!
When you step back and think about it, not that many came in realy and if they had there offspring restricted to breeding with other uk finnish Goshawks then you would have nothing but a lot of inbreds in the end.
In the fullness of time(mirroring the theorys of Dr Nick Fox, RE:- Falcons) I expect to see a new breed of Goshawk emerge.
The "Domestic Goshawk" (Accipiter gentilis domesticus) :D
What do you guys think?
