what is the best substrate for a kookuburra nest box? ive looked online but cant find anything about substrate for the box.
i figure bark chips, but then i think asper...
a mix of sand, earth and leaf litter perhaps?

Wood based cat litter, doesn't smell, absorbs everything and doesn't give off any spores :cool:

have you used it before? i used to use it for cage birds and found that once it got wet, it would desitegrate into dust. it was awful with my quail, they would dig through it and churn up the dust, didnt seem to do them harm but set my astma off royaly!!
i guess kookaburras wont be digging it up lol

We use it for everything, chickens,geese ,ducks, horse,got the owls on it at the minute for imprinting!
I think Lesley would make me sleep on it aswell :lol:
