Aptdit down a bird in the water and calls for a distance of 2 meters Libby was swimming one by one, the farthest distance Aptdit until it reached 30 meters and a strange bird that stayed loves swimming, Water and had informed him of what was important to try and continued training with him for 4 months and I would Ph Avian wounded in the right, but that may will say some of the observations
1 noted that the feathers of the bird more than the usual meanings, and this water-good, I think,
2 bird's claws and feet seem to feel stronger when Athssha thigh muscles
3 bird's health is better, we do not know what the benefits of swimming

I don't know. Here in the west we do 'Jump Up's' to about 2-3 meters high to the glove. Swimming sounds interesting. Keep us posted on the idea. I was thinking that swimming would be more desired when it is hot out. The google translator helps, but definately needs adjustment.

in india, people that train cocks for cock fighting make birds swim to increase strength and stamina. from what iv read, it really works for them, so i cant see it being a much of a stretch to introduce the method to raptors.

Just a Note

Many trained birds that have landed in the Sea have suffered salt poisoning later on, as a result of preening.

So, to treat a bird that has been in salt water. Rinse the bird (hose down) with fresh water afterwards.

Sorry but that is the stupidest and most degrading thing to do to a falcon. Just fly it.

I think his theory comes from Water therapy used for Race horses & rehab after surgery.

But i think a penguin might suit your day trips to the beach better!

Water is an important factor of good heathy feathers, but
Some species can suffer water damage if wet for overly long periods
often seen in Gyrs & sakers when they perch on the edge of the bath all day.

A frequent bath is all part of keeping any bird in good feather

Agreed, i find it pathetic, i think he should hack out that bird and take up a Carolina wood duck, it would suit him to have one teatherd to his fist, he could catch floating duck pellets with it. Or maybe he should just look into the Chinese methods of training comerants

I find it's interesting to see what others around the world do, that's one of the reasons I come here. It's too bad they get flamed for it.

Never seen this before. A falcon that swims! In my opinion a bird of prey just taking a bath to clean herself the blood from the legs and feathers. That way she never becomes totally wet. During warm summer days they do not like bathing at all. This is new for me.

I'll be out later walking one of my fish oh his lead, the exercise has really built his fins up nicely.

Others around the world eat one another, they stick thorns through their nostrils and ears....., the thought of making a bird swim to exercise is a completely primitive idea, especially in salt water, sealing falcons and other such methods go back hundreds of years and have their place. I suppose this cat will put that lanner in the shower next, in order to get it used to flying in the rain, i hope no one that has read this thread tries it with their bird
