okay I have got a pair of HHs the female is 2004 bird and the male is a 2005 bird, when can I start to breed them? I know I must put the male first in the breeding chambler, but when? the nother problem, if its a real problem is that the female is in the breeding chambler and the male what I fly at the moment is on a perch next to the female but in 2 "windows" they can see each other....
when I raise the male I feed them next to these "windows" so I think the male is not totally imprinted.... I get it at 4weeks of age, I donno how the female raised coz I buy her at february....she is very agressive aganist me at her aviary...always wanna kill be :D
So how can I start?
ps: my meews got 2 parts but I can make 1 big from the 2 parts....one part is approx 2,5metersX2metersX2,1meters high...enough? or must be open them together?
regards,
Dan. :)
anyone? I see sum of ya already readed my topic, but noone reply 2 it.....
ok dude i'll try and get the ball rolling, bareing in mind i'm a first year novice, as far as i'm aware the harris' hawk will not be at sexual maturity at the ages you've described, i certainly wouldnt attempt to breed them yet regardless, once matured carefull socialising would be recomended but i think timming is more important put them together at the right time and i'm sure nesting material would start to be carried, whats the rush anyway mate, if i were you i would concentrate on manning and training for a good while yet, after all you might end up with a complete nut case which you wouldnt want to breed from, you will only get out what you put in mate, take you're time get to know the birds, theire attitudes and especialy theire temperements, then you may have some idea of the offspring they might produce.

if you dont get them socialised & just put them in the same mews the female will probably kill the male....be careful mate

Dude
I would imagine you will be at least 3 years before they will breed, but as Andy says Varmint or one of the other breeders would posssibly be able to give you advice on this.

I they were creche reared, they may well breed at 2 years old, other than that it will probably be 3. Lots of females don't breed untill even older so you will have to wait and see.

Why does the fact that they a creche reared effect their sexual maturity? Thats quite interesting!
thx 4 the advices! I wil talk with varmint about this, coz I have manymany questions, I never breed any birds of prey...I like to breed HHs coz noone breed them here in Hungary.
best regards,
Dan. :)
