If you have ever looked at a smaller HH and looked at a "superior" HH then you will notice the difference. A couple of main differences between the two are size, weight and strength (correct me if i am wrong folks :-) )
I've known of a female superior HH to be at 2lb 15oz and again a F HH to be at 1-15 and lower in weight still at 1-10! A superior can sometimes be a lot darker than the other "sub-species" of the harris. The superior harris is called, i think, parabuteo unicinctus superior. We as the P. u. harrisi and P. u. unicinctus are more of a "sooty" brown with chest-nut shoulders, under-wing coverts and thighs. and as i said the P. u. superior is slightly darker in colouration if you look closely enough.

Hope this helps, sorry i have no pics.

yeah, 2-15 was the flyin weight. The mother of a female HH i know flew at 2-15, big girl she is though.

The female HH i am getting in a few weeks is the one of the largest the breeder has ever had. The mother of the HH i am getting is HUGE. Will post up some pics and weights of the one i am getting when she arrives.

perhaps the odd black bird LOL

my harris is hunting at the start of the season at 2lb 4 and a half and will still take blackbirds! :supz:

Those big slow jumbos can still turn on the speed if properly conditioned

quite right adam! if the black bird is there, the hawk will go in for the kill!
will have to wait and see what my harris starts off at at the start of this years hunting season!

what weight are you expecting it to make?

Well, according to the breeder she is close to the size of her sister from this years offspring, and the sister is near the size of his female he is using to breed with. Not sure what weight she flew at before he put her in for breeding, but will ask when i phone him within the next few days. The way the breeder is talking she is BIG. So... i should hope that the weight she will start off flying THIS season should be about 2-4 to 2-5. Weight should go up next season if not this season when she gets fit (after chasing the black birds!! :-) )
Will post her weight that she is when i get her in 2 1/2 weeks! :-) argghh!
