Sparrow Hawk with broken wing!

Hi,
we just got a juv sparrow hawk with a broken wing. We called the Vet and she said just bandage the wing to the body. I will go to the Vet with it tomorrow. What else can I do? When we got her he was standing in the box, after bandaging him he lies on the floor.

edite: He just stood up so that is ok. The box is dark to keep him calm. I gave him a chick. Lets hope that he eats it. I have to get some small birds for food.

Wild one. He is going to a good reharb center tomorrow. I cose it carfully as there are some that just kill the birds when they think they won't get well.

If you just banadge the wing to the body the bird will probably never fly again, at least not good enough for release. If birds joints are immobilised they quickly ankylose (fuse). Strapping is never a good option in spars as they get so stressed by it they die anyway. It is better to fix the fracture internally with a pin or external fixator (depending on the fracture).
