Try a photo of yourself Daz. He fancies you far more than food :D
Seriously, go for a dead rabbit mate. Far more realistic and he can have a good feed up off it.

Use any cut meat you usely feed your bird but not the hole chick or what ever you feed. Be shure it is well exposed and a consederable amount of red meat/blood showing in small amounts, tid-bits.Tie it to the lure in the neck/head area and let your bird feed off it a fue times in place before moveing it around.
Dead animal lures is not the best ideal if you wish to use the lure as a recall, when flying. Your bird will signify with the lure as a food source and hone in on it in the field. Besides if you use dead animals as a lure you my not have any when you need it!
