My kestrel has layed eggs for the last two years. She is on her own. This year she has layed 10 in total. The first three she broke and although she has been sitting since the fifth egg she is still laying. I have left the eggs with her but she layed another last night and that is 7 she is sitting on?
Any ideas to stop her.

if she has stopped laying now then just remove the eggs.

Problem is it may make her recycle if i pulled them.
I am just interested in any ideas how to discourage her from laying more. Should I cut her food back a bit or any other tips as it must be taking a lot out of her. Desperately need to find her a male for next year.

If you cut down her food it could be dangerous as she needs a lot of intake to support egg and shell development. My own kestrel is the same, she lays an egg every other day for about a fortnight, then stops, all this whilst doing shows daily! She usually lays in the box in her freeloft pen, but sometimes on her block. I tend not to worry, but up her food intake untill she has finished. Atb

Trouble is David this has been going on over a month now with the eggs coming at randy intervals.

if she is incubating them do you have any other eggs to put under her, even 1 fertile egg and let her go through the full cycle, may prove to be a good rearer.....
just a thought

Wouldnt flying her solve the problem? More handling during and throughout the day, wouldnt have thought she would lay if moved from mews to weathering every day?
