Hello there and a Very warm WELCOME to you Ahmed. Where in the Middle East are you and what do you fly?
i wanted to know what is the most bird that is loyal and learns fast used in europ and/or america.
That will be the Harris Hawk everytime.
and one more question. what type of birds are the 2 following birds in the pictures?
The first one is a Saker, a male by the looks of it.
The second is a Peregrine, justr as the file says.
Paul
PS Your English is very GOOD!

hello Paul,
thanks for the reply. i am from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. but currently in USA.
I flew a Saker like 3 years ago but i left UAE in the training process leaving my bird with a friend who helped me training it.
i don't have that much of experience with birds that's why i've been reading about training methods for over a year so far from books and internet websites to gain more knowledge.
in middle east, specially gulf countries, most people train Sakers, Peregrines, and Gyrs.
personally, i like Saker over the rest.
i think i am going to post the general training method that is used in middle east. it might help some people or just for you guys to know how we would train a bird =)

Sounds good. You might as well do it right here, as you are in the correct section anyway? Why do you like the Saker so much?

Why do you like the Saker so much?
i don't really know :), maybe because it is known, for arabs, that the Saker is better than the Peregrine in chasing for long distances and the Saker is more patient as well. yet the Peregrine is better in maneuverability.
i don't really have that much of information about the gyr, but i heared and read that gyrs are better than sakers and peregrines.
correct me if am wrong.

Personally I perfer Peregrines because Sakers have not been impressive at all here in the UK and the ones I have trained and flown seem lazy, lack style, do not mount high and would just not compare.
I have not flown pure Gyrs.
It will be good to hear what the others say?

Ahhhhhh, but a Pere/Saker now that is a good bird.
Well to answer one of the questions the most common bird here in the USA is a Redtailed hawk. It is required by law that we eather fly a Redtail or a Kestral for the first two years after we get our permits before we move to any other bird.

Ahmed,
Do you want to take up a bird in the US?
I believe the apprentiship will teach a great deal about the westerm birds and ways of training.
Good luck.

Ahmed, the best bird is the Gyr/peregrine, esp for the UAE. If you move back to the UAE tell me and I will get you the contacts for the best birds that you can buy in the UAE.
Take care

May be the Saker isn't very popular in Uk because of its annoying habbit of migrating!! plus the peregrine is the faster, tho not always so steady, so add a dash of both ....

Gents, each and every bird has it's own pros and cons. For ex. peregrine is of no worth in the desert. Arabs like sakers because they are more powerful and would easily overcome the bustard. No peregrine would come to the ground and fight the Houbara bustard, as Sakers do. Now if we are talking about waiting on flights, the peregrine comes to the picture.
So it's a matter of choice and surroundings as well as prey that is determining the bird you should pick.
They are all the best in their natural surroundings, and with their natural quarry. :)
For ex. I once tried to train a saker to the European partridge, with no results. On the other side a peregrine is a MASTER in this hunt. And when I say master I mean the tiercel.

Ahmed, if you go back to UAE, there is a huge falcon center in Dubai. I o stayed there for a mounth last breeding season and I am telling you there is a wide variety of birds and hybrids you can choose from. It's Mr Juma's Al Naboodha breeding center. If you need more info please contact me.

Sokoly,
Peregrines can take on habara bustards, and some Arabs successfully hunt bustards with peregrines.
The Saker's main advantage is its hunting style, which is tail-chase (as opposed to spectacular stoops), for the habara are very maneuverable, and can often sidestep a stoop at the last moment. Also, the Saker has very flexible feathers, whereas the Peregrine's are relatively brittle and not as condusive to a ground battle with a habara. In short, it takes guts, feathers, and chasing endurance to take on Habara.
Now Gyr hybrids are extremely popular with the Arabs.
Ahmed, when you come back to Abu Dhabi let's meet up!

hello everyone,
i wanted to know what is the most bird that is loyal and learns fast used in europ and/or america.
If by "learns fast" you mean which bird is the quickest to train to the point of flying quarry, it's not the harris' at all, but the merlin. I've had a merlin, freshly taken from the aviary, going loose in five days, and entered to quarry on the sixth.
For the average merlin, a week is all they need to be going loose.
