Hey folks looking for advice,

Just recently "deserted Trinity" for 10 days whilst in England, the mother was on guard duty and ever since she hasn't been the same since. I think we coped her beak just before I left aswell. She has always been as soft as anything even through the moult and whilst fat but now is ferocious...

One day she can be fine, the next actualy going for your face continuosly. Any thoughts to explain the actions of this crazy bitch. At the moment I am trying to spend as much time with her as I can bear hoping it will wear off.

Cheers Alex

P.S. Suspecting its just a phase, perhaps entering maturity and raging hormones...god knows.

Have you reduced her weight too quickly? Is she back to last years flying weight or have you got a higher one this year? I take it she is flying free now?

No, not yet. Quite possibly feed her a fat ol quail of the fist tonight. Was planing on bringing her back down, but on second thoughts...

fern moults out in an enclosed mews with very little contact.....she gets quite terrortorial...and shows off when contact is made.

but as soon as i pick her up again i am sure she will back to normal behaviour...

im sure its the fact she is maturing ,,,,

Kornie I had no idea she was 2 years old!

I have heard they can get a bit antsy as they mature and I have seen a couple of poor examples that have got a little bit carried away as they got older.

Kev is probably right.

I've got an 8 yearold moulting out now in a semi enclosed aviary. She will hit the bamboo to try and get at me if I go anywhere near.

She would put people off falconry for life.

As soon as I drop her weight and take her up for training she will throw a couple of strops then go back to being a trusted hunting partner.

If your bird has finished moulting, get her weight down and back into a routine. Females get more stroppy each year but nothing that cant be controlled.

Yeah thats what I thought....not quite finished moulting yet.

Still has a few tail feathers left to pull through. Just double checking Im not alone lol.

One things for sure, this year in light of her "less sociable" phase I'll make sure she is given a lot of basic training.

Thank you all for your advice!

Its just females Kornie. Never had it with a male.

The females seem to get worse each year although block moulted birds stay a lot less aggressive.

With this bird now 2 yrs old do you think it could be a hormone thing like maybe she wants to breed??????????.

Most probably Falconer. They do seem to get arsey after their second moult.

Guys, very exciting prospect here however far fetched...

Went in Trinitys aviary, enclosed part and found a very suspicous gathering of comfortable looking grass fluff, feathers mossy type stuff etc. To me tis looks like the making of a nest in its early stages?? Any thoughts? Also in the most secluded, hidden part aswell...

If this is so, does that mean Trinity has reached maturity and might be possibly thinking about egg laying? She is over two years old now, and to me sounds a bit young for a harris??

Farfetched, but i'd be interested on anyones thoughts?

Use a condom mate, she'll only charge you otherwise. :) :)

your not alone on this one mate im sure once back out in the feild she will settle down for you. The wifes male has turned into a right git during the moult.

At two she is maturing too so the hormones will have an effect. women hey
