Bloody hell, that's an old system, a mate of mine had one, the receiver is big and heavy has a car battery, the yaggi about 12 feet long, infact when he lost sight if his gos, he had to go back to the car to get the receiver,

yeah BC if I remember rightly it is a mariner that JPJ used in wone of her vids ( about 15 years ago to check the trx, when she held the trx behind her for a signal!! ) so heavy that it was clearly some time since it had been moved from the table in her weighing room!

Mariner 57 was made by John French near Lowestoft (Mariner Radar Limited, 01502 567195. Bridleway, Wood Lane, Oulton, Lowestoft, NR32 5DN) and was intended primarily for research work and wildlife tracking.
The good news is that it's completely reliable and can survive almost anything except a direct nuclear strike.
The bad news is that it's about the size & weight of a small wardrobe.
I used to have one but found that I either had to load it onto a pack mule or send it on ahead to where the bird was going to be lost.
