Hello Clive,
I've had two hides off him, the thicker ones though. These hide you've bought is thin at 0.7 - 0.8mm, what you going to use them for ?

I bought the ones at 1.2 mm, made jesses for female gosses and at the end of the season still like new with no stretching or hardening.

Jim.

ps He a good bloke to deal with, fast delivery and no hidden extras.

Providing there going to be strong enough, anklets and jesses; failing that, I'll put it up on eBay..............................there's always some idiot who doesn't know whats what
I'm also watching/bidding on another one.

That thickness would be ideal for the spars, perlins, etc.

well this guy delivers for sure...actually I myself also am waiting for some hide of 0.7 or so thickness. And indeed want to use this for sparrowhawk jesses.

I had the fortune to get a hide of him with 2 mm thickness...think I will never succeed finding such a hide again. It's really perfect for the bigger falcons.

Oz....good quality, quick delivery....he's very OK

I might have to have a serious chat with him to supply quite a bit of varying thickness hides

The very first pair of jesses I bought from Brian S, were roo, just put a vernier on them and they are .9mm and nearly 3 years later, still good as new!!!
If it is no good for my needs, I'll pass it on

G'day People of the Falconry Forum,
One of my customers suggest I join this Forum.
We sell roo leather and have many falconry customers. Consequently, we have picked up a few things along the way. Roo leather is the best matierial for many falconry items. However, it can be a complicated subject. The type of leather (chrome tanned, veg tanned, drum stuffed), understanding the quality and thickness (.5mm to 1.5mm) of the leather is extremely important when selecting a hide for a particular purpose.
We always have a large inventory of roo hides in stock. The drought has really knocked the industry around in the last couple of years, but it looks like the worst days are over. The hides are beginning to regain their thickness and strength. Anyway, we are here to help and provide hides of all types. A young upstart wizkid is preparing a web page for us (that's a bit frightening!) so soon we will have a place where you can go and select the exact hide(s) you want and all the costs will be provided before you make your decision. As this whole thing is foreign language to me, I can't say for sure how long it will take for us to get a grip on the operational aspects. In the meantime, you can contact me directly at
amazingoz@ozemail.com.au
I'll do my best to supply you with the right hide at the best price. We've seen the roo leather retailers out there and yes, you can save a lot of money and get good ole fashioned person-to-person service from us.
Cheers - Col :yawinkle:

Hi Col, 'bunny-basher' here, great hides really pleased with them, although my own fault, the black one is a tad too thin for my requirements

I guess 1mm- 1.5mm is going to be the most generally used for the average falcon/hawk.

Hope you get plenty of orders mate.

This guy is the tops; even sends as 'Gift' so we don't get stuffed on custom charges
He gets my vote everytime.

Hi Col (AmazingOz)

Welcome to the forum M8...... I can vouch for the quality of the hides from Col ....any one who has purchased a Roo hood from me has actually got some of Col's leather :) Buy with confidence and know that it will all arrive from Oz without a problem..... just be aware that if you are buying in quantity that Customs WILL kick u in the nuts!!

Sorry Bunny-basher, we'll do you a good turn next time around. Didn't know what you wanted it for. The thin stiff works for lots of things and it's cheap. And there's no shortage of it at the moment! The thick stuff is the go, a lot dearer though, and rare as hens teeth in the last year or so. In a few months there should be some nice thick hides coming thru. Hope we can look after you.
Cheers - Col
