Clou F R/T, Not really out, but have done a little manning, she dropping a lot of small feathers and dow lately, still needs to drop two more tail feathers. new tail is looking great.
Don't plan on dropping her back to hunting weight until mid to late Sept. because of heat. besides hunting season opens Oct 1st.
So I still have time, it's not uncommon to still have temps in the mid 90 deg. in Oct.

Hi Hawka, How are you finding flying the sakerette, I tried to keep my female saker going through the summer, during the really hot weather we had she really struggled and eventually she had so many primarie missing I felt I had to put her up, but of course, now she is so far behind.

No problems at all Goose. He's been doing display work all summer, he's the fittest bird I've ever flown, 1lb 12 of solid muscle. We have to double lure him if he needs a good workout.

He's still dropping feathers all the time but normally only a pair, I guess they know when they need to hang on to them.

I'll take one in the morning mate.

He's not very big at all but really muscled up. Had him on the kite at the start of the summer to get him going.

The Sakerette I had off matt is also flying at 1lb 12 and looks as big as a female.

Lovely, where do you plan on flying this season and what quarry?

LeighJauncey

I'm kind of in two minds at the moment as she's an imprint and should breed next season I might not fly her - my ground down here isn't really suitable for a falcon. I flew her mainly up in
Dorset last year where the land is much better and the rooks more cooperative! However, I am very tempted!

Peregrynne
12-08-2005, 10:47 PM
Leigh that is a spectacular looking bird. You say it's an imprint, but is it a hybrid or pure?

LeighJauncey
12-08-2005, 11:40 PM
I suppose it depends what you mean by a hybrid! She's an eighth Barbary - so she's not really pure but that doesn't bother me in the slightest, I'm just really looking forward to flying one of her offspring next season (fingers crossed of course!).

Here is a last years pic of my friend Daves Female HH her name is Shadow.
She has been flying free for about a week now and the fitness training has begun.
He hopes to fly her at about 2lb 6oz.

Bit rough round your way Nimbus, who nicked the cross bar?

Albie
13-08-2005, 09:56 AM
I have always wondered why those to white posts were there minus the top bar, cause there's not two posts down the othe end!
Good ground for training birds though Hawka.
It's on the top of a hill overlooking our town of Brixham, we get a nice bit of wind for the birds to fly into, and the council keep the grass cut very short cause it's main use is for people to exercise their dogs.
People, dogs, vehicles all passing by which helps with the Manning prcess!
Albie..

I forgot to put the O in process.
I had to say this cause there are people who read these posts just to pick fault with spellings etc.
How sad!!!

Cant take the credit for the photos SJ. A friend of mine is trying to make a living from Photography and spent a day with me. All I know is he had a Canon Digital camera with a few lenses. He took about 400 photos and gave me them on disk. He caught some great action.
