I have just been asked by a mate to ask this question. He has some shamo chicks in an incubator and 1 has hatch and 4 have piped. They all piped at the same time this morning but only 1 has removed itself. How long would you leave it before asisting the others out of the egg as it has been a fair few hours now since the 1st hatched. Thanx

I'd wait 24 hours at least, they are seldom much good if you help them out, the timing needs to be dead right, and it's not easy to judge. Mike.

Yes, give them 24 hrs before assisting, if too soon you may split a vein causing blood loss/ death....Nick.
