With there still being a fair few people that wanted and still wish to write something or just sign Brian's book...I make a suggestion...along the lines of a chain letter with the book.

If members wish to receive the book so they themselves can write there own messages please make yourselves known to myself.... I then can get a list added to this thread and we can then work down the list.... Few things I would ask

1st is the person having the book in hand contact the next member on the list for there address(do not put you address on the open forum).....

second you post the book onto that person....

Finally once the book has been received by the next they then let it known it has been received on the thread

This way we can see the progress of the book and see exactly where it is.

Now it would help if when it is an area where there are a few members together the member with th book in hand gets it to them while its there.

So who wants to be first on the list? At the moment Simon has it in hand and will post it onto the next..... hopefully the book can be posted to Joe Hatton at the right time so that any attending the function can sign it there:idea:

Hope this isn't to complex

Kev

Also just for the record, on the Saturday at the festival the book was held by Sophie, Sara and Hattie, so a lot of the credit should go to them for the bulk of the signatures in it.

Guidance needed for me then (not necessarily looking to you for an answer Mandy) - should I send Brian's book to Tommy (next on Kev's list), or send straight it to Carl so we are sure it is with him in good time for CLA?

I will be leaving for the CLA at 2pm on Thursday so if someone could either bring it with them for first thing on Friday or could post in recorded delivery to ensure I can get it.

Can I ask why you have not sent it to the next on the list on Thurs? as you said you would:rolleyes:.... (Just picked up on this as I have been off line) This morning it should have been with Tommy. Mon with Paul....plenty of time to time to get the book to Carl for Thurs. The reason for the little rant is because I feel this is how its going to get lost....another thing is another two members that have put there names on the list could have been covered

Hi Kev, I know what your saying but the time scale would have been tight, book to me by sat/ posted monday next person wednesday carl gone on thursday,so to be safe you would have got one more signiture and could have missed carl for thursday, maybe you have more faith in the postal system than I, any way the priority is to get this book around safely and I wish you every success with this task.:goodman:

You are making it sound like I made the decision on my own and that quite clearly isn't the case. Incidentally, check your list - I'm not even on it. I PM'd Simon to offer any assistance I could as he needed to get away to work; I suggested he sent it to me if he got no address PM'd to him from anyone on your list.

Absolutely. Gone are the days of next day delivery for first class post. And the chance of it getting lost is exactly why I will be sending it recorded delivery.

Hi Jan, also recorded delivery needs someone to sign for it, another posible delay, you did the right thing sending it to carl, calm down, kev as his valid points on this as well.

Hi Kat, I didn't ever have an opportunity to meet Gentle myself. But I read many of his posts, which all seemed to exude a depth of understanding, wisdom & consideration for his falconry, and for his fellow falconers.

If it is possible, I would like for my name to be added to his book of condolence - as one of many people who were touched and influenced by his example. I don't need to sign the book myself. I think if someone could extend my sympathy though to his family, and maybe suggest..

Gentle's adopted IFF handle, spoke volumes about the man he was.
