Today: Not bating much on the glove and when she does she comes straight back up on her own. Not gripped me or anything today so thats good! lol :D
She's not interested in the food today. Spent 2hrs with the food trying to encourage her but nothing apart from a slight glance and pause at the food but then looked up again. Hopefully will feed off fist tomorrow :)
She's nice natured and good on the block. Been everywhere with me today, and she is not bad walking around with her either. All around a positive day and lets see what tomorrow brings :D

Hope mine is nice natured its a MHH bred in an open mews, so hoping it a little like a crech reared bird??

What kinda block are you using for your bird???
I would have thought a bow would have been much better for a broadwing I dont think Blocks are very good for their feet mate, think it steches their aductor tendons in their feet??

No success in feeding from fist this morning!! :(

Anyone know a way to encourage her more? Cant feel her keel so she still has a lot o meat on her. Had this problem with the lanneret but i fed the harlans off the fist so he could see and when i went back to try him again he ate from the fist...
Try this method again?...or u got any betta ideas? :D

:lol: :lol: Jamie what are you like :lol: i know i'm only an owler but i would just persevere a little longer. i have known of an extreme case here where he went 7 days. Maybe if push comes to shove, try taking her inside for more security but you would only have to start outside again afterwards.

Fed off fist after 1hour and fifteen minutes of sitting with her. Before she ate she was sitting on the glove with one foot up with the content crown up.... She was looking at the food every so often and then she went down, grabbed it, gripped ma glove and ripped it up and it was gone in 2 gulps :shock: lol

First Day of "Flying to Fist" Training :D :: LOL :: :D

Went quite well actually :D - better than i'd thought :) Took her to my friends center whilst i went to pick up some DOC and Quail. At 2lb 1oz she done quite well as i thought i would have to take her down quite a bit to get her to fly a distance.

Placed her on the post....glove up, food out onto glove, called T-D and she came.................................THEN TRIED TO SNATCH!!!....... i thought......... b*tch...lol!! :D
She didn't get any of it the little terror!!! Second time, she did the same thing and didn't get it either, but then decided she would sit on the top of a wall... Then she flew down onto the post again... Third time..... SNATCH!!! i was like i am having none of this...!!! :D
Forth time.......... nice jump to the glove and wait for it......................NO SNATCH hehe :D:D..............
5th................increased the distance of a jump of which she knows already........ nice jump.... 6th jump.... brilliant.... 7th jump.........brilliant......... and 8th jump - OOOOPPPS!!!! sorry i ment flight........................4metres from post onto glove without snatch i was like hehehe:Dgood one girl!!:D
Coming on good now. Lets me clean her beak and all so i'm like..... Proud! My little lanneret is brill! (thought i'd add that too!!!:D)

Lets see what the beauty does tomorrow!! :D:D

I would only call 2 or 3 times - maximum during training. You get a better response with a good reward on 2 or 3 recalls rather than the daily ration being divided into 8 recalls.

Hawka - i give my birds 2 weeks intense manning before i start flying them and it works out fine m8.
OF - i normally would only give a few calls during training also but i knew she was gonna come so i perciveired (spelling:D)

Did some jumps to begin with.......Started to go back gradually and she came with no snatches or hesitation..........Got to the full length of the craence and she came like a bat-out-o-hell...........Went passed the full length of the craence (half more of the craence actually) and then she came straight away.... :D:D Did the same again but with back to her walking back to the point were i wanted her to fly to me for but then all i seen was her going into the tree infront of me, turning around and waiting for me to get the food out for me. Following on :supz:!! lol
