Hey top stuff Mr C!!
whats the design like on the inside? have you got a seperate weighing area? double door system?
I like the window shutters, good idea.
I have been building my weathering this weekend, not got too far, It takes us ages to get everything level bloody clay :-)
Then its onto the mews at a later date, think we are going to get a mini digger in to level that beast off though!

Thanks for all the positive comments guys I appriciate it.
I wish I was a fighter Pilot Brian they get paid more than me and get to drop things on peoples heads
LanczSpringer the mews is split in two. You enter via the equipment room where there is a food shute and another door into the larger mews part. I would like to say it's my design but most of the credit goes to Mikey on here who sent me plans for his, and it was good.
Hey BenC just so you know I had to pay for this ******, shame really

Nice job mate and it looks a lot like the accom design in my book strangley enough?
Just rem that perch position is just as important as design as Sheite gets everywhere in smaller free lofts, so corner perches ect are no good.
Have fun!

Nice job m8, where did you get the plans from?? Can you post them?
Looks very well built, what are the window bars made from?
Mr_Colin
15-08-2005, 09:14 PM
I got sent the plans by Mikey. Not sure where he got them from, maybe Varmints book but as I do not own a copy I couldn't tell you. I'm working on it Adrian.
The bars are over flow pipe (which I do know comes from Varmints book). V cheap.
Roo if you pm me your address I will put a copy in the post to you.
looks amazing :D ive been working on mine all weekend and this eveing, thought it was looking great, then i seen yours lol :'(
Mr_Colin

Dont be shy Sean, lets see the pics. I think it's all down to how much Cornish Ale you've had to drink. :drinkers:
To be honest sean as long as your bird is safe in her new home it doesn't matter how good or bad it is.
digi cam lead is lost lol, ill try and find it though lol. if not ill use a disposable. much did yours cost? mine has cost 210 so far and ive still to buy more frame for the roof and an extra sheet of OSB, the gravel and teh bars lol.(slightly changed the plans it as we went along lol) its 12x8 :D

Thanks for the offer! no need for the moment though will be some time before I can think about building mews. So I will be looking at various designs later in the year, the bars got me confused though, looked like wood!, but overflow pipe seems like a good idea. :D
Mr_Colin
15-08-2005, 09:50 PM
Yeah, when I bought the pipe it was 3 metre's long and floopy. I wasn't convinced myself and thought I had been given duff gen. We cut one piece and put it in, and blow me it's spot on, it does give a little bend but if your bird fly's at it it should give a little and not injure the bird.
540!??!! wow thats alot, did you pay for labour? im tryign to stay below 300,

Too true Johnny B.
I was in a lucky position that I could buy half decent material at the time. I built it with a friend of mine.
When i was looking for a mew design I asked lots of questions of people on here and got lots of suggestions and seeing pics of other people's help me adapt one for myself, that's the reason we put pics up. You will also notice from other threads of the same type Sean that others can give advice on your mews to make things better. I am waiting for some with mine, how-ever Mikey got the adice when he built his, and I have adapted his.

It's for Willow (FHH). I have had her since Nov last year and she lives on the base where I work at the moment in a converted Dog Kennel in the dog section. Although this was good at the time it is a pain in the ass at weekends as the base is 8 mile away and when I go twice a day it counts up the miles. So I thought build something at home. So I did, whith help from a friend who happens to have a nail gun and a very good screw gun. I probably went over board with the screws though which should be fun if I move next year :(
johnny if your asking me, the birds coming on the 17th of sept :D

If the design is similar/same as something in a book,it's an uncanny coincidence!? I bought a 7x 5 pent shed and biult/adapted the rest on to it.I just read through the mews section n got ideas from there. Also took lots of advice for furniture/bars instead of mesh etc!!Spooky though,i'd like to see Varmints plans in his book...if thats ok Varmint!?
Really nice job there Colin...cracking Mews
