Hi,
I'm an experienced Falconer of over 20 years.
I run a project in Nepal where i train birds to fly with Paragliders.
I'm looking for a volunteer to work with me for about 2/3 months this coming season.
You don't need to be a Paragliding pilot but you will need to be passionate about training birds.
This opponunity will suit, somebody who loves to travel to new and exotic places, who's passionate about training birds and would love to get involved with something a little different.
you will have to buy your own flight but we will cover your accomodation and some living expenses.
but not only that. you will get to go Paralgiding, Trekking in the Himalayas, White water rafting and watch some of the most magnificent birds of prey all from our very own lakeside home.
Interested, then hurry as the season is fast approaching and i've got a huge wild caught Steppe Eagle i need to train.
check out our website for more info on Parahawking.

cheers

You'll be the one carrying all the kit to the top of mount everest, whilst he's the one who gets to jump off!

ha ha
I can still carry my own kit thanks. although we do have porters on some of the hills who are more than willing to carry our bags for us. sometimes they will even fight over who gets to carry the bag, which can be quite amusing.
but you will get plenty of opportunity to fly with some of the best pilots in the world. have a look at the following website to see the pilot profiles

Are you only training steppe eagles? Or a variety of birds?

mainly black kites as they really are the best birds for the job

Cool! I just posted a black kite topic! They're all over Japan. They love thermals, eh. Buteos in carrion-eaters' clothing

Didn't I see a TV programme about you and black kites earlier this year? Seem to recall that one went AWOL and another recovered from a wing injury.

Maybe, that was filmed about 4 years ago, one in fact did go AWOL, he got catapulted by some local kids while we were aout flying one day.
not sure about the wing injury though, they might have made that bit up to spice up the programme.

Just took a look at the pilots' profiles. Sounds cool , but their experience at flying makes me feel wee and insignificant :prayer:
What kind of plans have you got for the lucky volunteer?

I can't believe no one has volunteered yet!
If I was 25 years younger and not tied down by kids, dogs, birds, husband mortgage, etc etc I would jump at the chance.

I would have bitten my right arm to do something like this when I first started flying birds.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. for an apprentice this could be an excellent chance to get some first class tuition

I am biting my arm, I would sign up for this without any doubt what-so-ever, however it is only my age that restricts me....
