In Holland where there are good numbers of migratory honey buzzards, Goshawks account for quite a few of them if their food source is scarce.

i cant wait till scotland is flooded with them but its sad for the gamekeepers :D

if theirs too many maybe their will be a law passed to trap them to control the wild population :D so we can all have fun

mate first time i heard of a honey buzzard, i will check out some details and find out what their like, cheers mate

The honey-buzzard is effectively an African bird which migrates to Europe to breed (although some will say it is a European bird that migrates to Africa in the winter :) )
In Holland as elsewhere they feed mainly on ground-nesting wasps, they actually dig down to the nest and start eating the grubs. Its strange but after an initial frenzy by the adult wasps they simply give up on attacking the birds.

If they arrive too early in the season for the wasp grubs they survive by eating frogs and the like.

As I said earlier they are included in the Goshawk diet!

See what you can get from an apprenticeship with Varmint

the chicks in the picture are red kites.

Goshawks will always be controlled by gamekeepers and the idea that scotland will be flooded with them is impossible.
