I don't think it sounds to bad what do you lot think? I am planning on going on maybe 10 of these days out where i will be flying the hawk there again under the watch full eye of a experienced falconer i don't think you can beat doing anything practically so i think in my opinion this is well worth the money. This fella as also told me he will help design the mews for the bird will teach me everything a experienced falconer should know so i was thinking of latching on to him for this season am i going in the right direction here folks if not please say so with your reasons. thank you all

here we dont like to get money from beginners, we just teach them.......for free....our club place the beginners to the nearest falconer to learn and the falconer must teach the guy for free, but many country many fashion :)

Well done Jon your working at it now, but that is quite pricey. Did you check out the IBR (independent bird register) web-site yet? :)

If I read this correctly, and having looked at his website, it appears to me you are going to pay £100 for a quick introduction to a hawk, a brief explanation of what is entailed and spend the rest of the day out flying/hunting. Now to do that once I am sure that for the uninitiated it will be a good day out but to do it up to 10 times would be a waste of your money as i fail to see just how much you will learn from the repetitive nature. I would have thought that a falconry course would be better value whereby you would learn so much more.

I am quite sure if you show that you are that committed that there will be someone within driving distance of you that will allow you to tag along and carry the ferret box etc for a bit of hunting whilst spending your money on a course that offers a good grounding into this sport

try 2 find someone here at the forum who is near 2 u, I think someone teach u for nothing.falconers are a big family and help each other if they can, thats the situation here in Hungary, I think its the same worldwide.

Sorry Outflying was the falconer i was on about.

save your £100 and take Jim up on this offer, you will learn more in a few hours than in the full day you are paying for.

As for charging that amount, i appreciate soem peeps do this for a living and to charge this for the "pleasure seeker" can be justified. But to charge this to a genuine learner is a bloody rip off.

Too expensive, and you will be a spectator after all, we are you based in Notts, i may be able to put you in touch with a couple of good chaps who will not rip you off and you may learn something at the end of it.

For that money you could travel down south to the Hawk conservancy and attend a proper course and still have money for your accommodation.
Or travel north and attend Varmints courses and you will also get a far better understanding and grounding than the tosh Mr Soulsby has offered you.
