You're using hardcore instead of pea-gravel, so you might as well go the whole hog! :)

Sorry mate, I was typing before I was thinking. Again. Right, personally I would leave the builder's line well alone but if you have a decent builder's yard nearby some have a good selection of cords from 1mm upwards. Avoid cotton braids as they will just rot. You could always buy just a couple of metres and test it out at home. How you do that bit is up to you! :)

Well, you really need a son like mine, cos he can break anything so if it's alright by him I'm ok. But really, anything you can swing off should be fine, surely. Works for me anyway!

Hi sean, the brickie cord is ok if its the good quality stuff. I bought one of those wind up reels brickies use, it 100's of yards long, yellow and very very strong. The stuff you buy from builders merch etc can be dodgy.

In truth any strong line can be used as a creance so long as you are happy with the sudden break test strength of it

I've always used 30 yards of braided nylon. It's done me proud!

Braided nylon is what I use, its very good easily strong enough and it doesn't frey like unbraided line...
