View Full Version : Bow perch Deminsions?
Hi, im getting a welder to make me a bow perch and he needs some plans for what size it will be ect, could anyone tell me the size of htem pls?

Depends on what bird is going on it. For a red, I make mine about 24 inces wide for the bow portion, the spikes into the gound are aprox. 12 inches each and the top of the bow I usually try to set no lower than 12 inches high. I bend mine with 3, 60 degree bends with the top bend being less sharp to give the bird a perching area to attach astro turf etc.
could i use these for a male harris or maybe a lil smaller?

my friend redtails r massive , a male harris is puney compared to it :D a female redtail that is

You can use the same dimentions as those if you wanted too. It is a bit overkill, but works the same. Many of the folks I know use block perches for the smaller hawks so I have not really looked to close at others bow perches.

I will just mention that you remember to keep the bow heigh as low as is needed to just have the birds tail a couple of inches off the floor. Too many folks many them too high and this can be bad for many reasons.
