Last Saturday a white goshawk was stolen from the mews of the Chairman of the Japan Falconry Association. Only 20 in all of Japan, this hawk's demise was the top story of the national news for that day.
He's not so popular with Japanese falconers (he has political links to Koizumi), so I reckon his bird was set free by a disgruntled watermelon.
To show how tight his media connections are; the bird was 'stolen' at 6a.m. and hit the top tv headlines by 8a.m.
Sort of wish she was stolen and not set free so the thief could be tracked and burned at the stake. But, like I say, I reckon she was set free out of spite....
