Feel i have to tell everyone about this.
Out flying my new male HH today. I have just been getting him to follow on, getting him fit and used to flying in the wind. Nothing else - no dummy bunnies or any encouragement to hunt. He was flying along about 40 ft up along the tree line. This wood pigeon flies past just above him and he goes for it. I'm thinking no way. I see a foot lash out and he hits it and knocks the pigeon of it's stride. He goes for it again this time he gets a foot on it and they fall behind some large bushes. I run round the bushes to see what has happened. I can't find him at first but then i hear the bell and move in. He is up against a fence mantling. I'm thinking he's got it. I look under him and he has about 5 tail feathers from the pigeon clenched tightly in his foot but the pigeon has gone. I think it went through the fence and pulled out it's tail feathers escaping through the fence as there was feathers on the other side.
If he had caught it would of been one of the best enters i have ever seen. Obviously he was up for it after that as some swifts came in to give him abit of abuse and he chased them but they a bit too quick and agile for him.
