does anyone know which is the best program for converting dvds i have a dvd that i copied on my phillips dvd recorder but it wont play on my computor and i want to make a copy please let me know if anyone can help....thanks

I had the exact same trouble with my old dvd camcorder as there encoded in japanese format or something i found out after searching trouble shooting websites on my model---and yes it was bought in this country in currys:rolleyes::confused:
try downloading VLC media player it converts everything also try playing through "quicktime" media player;)

Or you could ask your good friend Ferdinand (thats me by the way :P) to upload his copy of Nero onto his servers for you ;)
But I only do that strictly on a 'need not want' basis so PM me if you would like it.

The problem you might have though is that the recorded DVD needs to be finalised by your philips recorder before it can be played by a PC.
Once finalised you can stick it in the PC and with the software above convert it as needed.

I use a program called convert x to dvd. This is great for sorting out all the issues surrounding camcorders and their different file extension types. Run a search for it on the net and you'll find it easily. Also lets you name chapters extra just like on all dvd menus.
