Custom Gyr hood.... waiting for a Sterling Siver Bead before completion. The eye panels and top knot base are made from Navy blue "Ostrich leg" with natural centre panel and trim. This hood would look good on a white Gyr...

Damn a big old bird then. Makes my Gyr/Barbary look small his head is about 45mm, so a size 12 block?

Is a size 15 Block then 5.5cm?
If you were making one for a customer would you make both sizes or just the one for a male?
If I make one and cock it up it is not a problem as I just toss them in the old hood box thing I have or give it away, but you must have a nightmare as this is your living? Although I seem to see everyone always says they are spot on first time everytime any way from you!

Lol....no one is perfect... I get it right most of the time..... but obviously I am selling the hoods blind and I have to guess on weight (if known) If the hood is not right first time I ask that the hood is sent back and I send out a new one and so on until the fit is right.....the only raptor I have had a prob with this season is the Gos...... they seem to be very varied in head size according to weight proportion....
Block 16 = 5.4cm

Mmm that is interesting, so what would you say is my Gosses Size and I will measure her tomorrow and we will see how close you are? She flies at 2lbs 5oz. I can't even get a hood near her she goes mad and leaves the county!

So would you say then that at the time when a chap wants to buy a bird off a breeder and say he has several female Gosses you could say hey measure their heads and that way end up with the heaviest bird?

hi griff matt and i have noticed how you are realy expanding your range and it looks like the quality of hoods and materials is massivly improving . i dont mean that they where ever anything but the best but it seems that you have managed to improve on that and keep building .
i realy think we are looking at the next big name in falconry ferniture in years to come .
matt has asked if you could do a run down on the differance between all 3 sets of hood blocks . good points and bad .
