remove the crop ,head, feet, and guts then feed when ever . pigeon is VERY rich and wil put your bird over . good for growing muscle and feeding birds in the moult and babys.
i talked to a few older guys about tyhis as i used to freez them and was told this did nothing to prevent frounce.
i hope that helps .

To reduce the risk of frounce from feeding pigeons to BOPs, its very important to remove the entire digestive and respiratory tract from the bird. The liver should also be checked for any irregularities such as white spots, yellow spots, swelling and discolouration. The bird should then be dismembered and thoroughly washed of all blood in cold running water, and left to lie for at least 30 minutes before being fed to a BOP.

Also check the carcass for warts and tumours, and if in doubt, throw it out.

I have now been feeding pigeon to my hawks and falcons for over a decade, after taking the precautions listed above, and have so far had only 2 cases of frounce, which were cureed by giving the bird 50mg Flagyl daily for 5 days. The Falgyl should be given at least an hour before the daily meal. For large birds that weigh over 1000 grams you can give them 50mg Flagyl twice a day, i.e morning and evening.

I have tried several methods, and the best way is to buy pigeons from breeder who gives them medicaments in food. If I am hawking pigeons I pick my bird emidiatly from them!
In the other case I don't think that I will ever again give pigeons to my bird because I lost MRT, and my friend lost his spar two weeks ago!

Pigeons are a very difficult quarry to take, especially wood pigeons. Feral pigeons may be the easier option but still most likely too fast for a male harris hawk.

To catch a pigeon with a spar would take a close slip, so to take one with a harris would be a feather in your cap unless it was ambushed.

Last year I caught 5 woodpigeons in flight with an imprint male gos, never caught one with any other gos or hawk in fair flight before - they are difficult.

frounce is a disease a pigeon catches and it is in the liver. your ment to cut the bellie open and put it in freezer for 1month-6month and when you take it out look for white spots n yellow ones if it has them spots through it away
thats wat i got told....
