A new region of the British Falconers Club has been formed, The West Mid & Borders Region will be holding it’s first meeting on the Friday 25th September at The Red Lion, Holyhead Road, Wellington, Telford, Shropshire. The pub is located 1/3 of a mile from M54 Junction 7 making it very easily accessible from all the surrounding areas. It has a totally private function room, large beer garden, ample parking, large public bar and food is available until 9 p.m. The meeting will start at 8pm and is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
The monthly meetings will start from Friday 6th November and will be held on the first Friday of the month from this date onwards. Several people have been contacted about giving talks and lectures at the meetings. The committee will be endeavoring to get a very active and busy calendar holding plenty of field meets for both longwings and shortwings throughout the season.
If you are interested in becoming involved with this new region but are unable to attend then please feel free to contact myself.

Thanks for informing us Dave. I knew it was on the cards, but nobody at the club has officially announced this.
All the best for the future, if I can help in any way, get in touch

Well done.
Historically, Shropshire has always been home to some good falconers, so with a little enthusiasm to get things off the ground I think you could be on to a winner.
Best wishes,
Tony.

Hi Dave,
I think I'm right in saying that the BFC will be at the Midland Game Fair, with Dave Aldred and others on the stand.
All other regions have there own stand, specific to that region, and I'm sure one could be organised for you to use at regional functions etc. --- I guess you'll be sending a regional rep to the next council meeting where it could be dealt with if you wish.
Best wishes,
Tony.

Best of luck Dave et al,
There seems to have been some interest from Shropshire falconers to get a club going again so it looks like the potential members are there.
I'd would have liked to have been there but I'm already busy that weekend.

Cheers, there are a lot of falconers in the area however not many are BFC members, probabally due to the fact there is no local region with any luck a few of them will want to join.

Thanks Pete,
I was not expecting as many people as we got, we had a further 6 people send appologies as they could not attend but will be available for the next meeting on the 6th November, we also had three people joined the BFC on the night which was better than we expected.
I would like to thank Martyn Stanley and the other members of the Midland region for donating £400 from their region to help get us started. The commitee will be working hard between now and teh 6th to get some speakers booked and hopefully some dates for field meets sorted.
Thanks to all who attended for their support, if anyone has any suggestion on speakers that they have seen in the past or would like to see then please let us know.
