Here are some photos of the hood I made for the Stellars. It was purely a guess. The bird takes both this Dutch and the Maynes Bad Boy easliy and without fuss.. I would make the beak a bit bigger exposing more of the face at the top of the cere but for a first time?? Looks good, Big Horkin bird to say the least!!

I like the hood but not on a bird like this ,What is the purpose to fly such an bird ?? Falcons, steppe ,golden eagles OK you can hunt with them but Stellers ?

Sorry for the hard words but there is a line you shouldn,t cross in falconery .

Stellers are extreme big birds who live in groups in nature ,I have seen stellers in aivery,s for breeding and they need a lot of space to keep them satisfied ,to put a mayestic bird like this on a block with no space at all is not the way you should experience falconery.

Sorry.

Maybe it is flown for flying demonstrations?

Do you object to vultures/bald eagles/af fish eagles etc being trained? All these bird are large, live in groups and aren't much good at hunting.

Am I right in saying Stellars usually scavenge and usually come across the Goldies and usually battle it out for there food. I seen it on Sky once...was amazing footage. There really impressive birds!awesome!

These birds shouldn,t be on a block at all show or falconery is not an issue ,They need space and lots of flying hours ,Only a few minutes in the air for a show is not enough ,Don,t mis understand me I fly birds by my own but you should asked yourself where is the limit and I think with these birds they have reached it ,Just flying them in a show is for meeven more worse then use them for falconery then they have there time to fly .

Erik that is your opinion some will agree and some will disagree I am cool with that. Maybe you should voice this opinion on the eagle section of the forum and get other opinions.

Like I said before liked the hood and didn,t want to break down the subject ,I saw the photo,s of the bird and thought this is no positive development for our hobby,Don,t want to make a big issue of it because the greenies also following forums like this,So back to the hood .

Erik,,Flying birds at an exhibit/bird show in zoos is not falconry. How on earth can a greenie who follows this forum be upset of a hood on an eagle? Jeez,, hope you and they don't look at the hunting photos or videos, which is falconry?

I was lucky enough to see a wild haggard male Stellars in a tree nearby my house. He was overloooking the Ishikari River, hoping for someting, I suppose.
It was the first sighting of a Stellars for me. This place is alive with White-tailed Sea Eagles, though.

...but what that has to do with Ken making a hood, is beyond me. LMAO
