I am waiting for your report about the ruffed grouse, and about the general temper/character of the bird. I would have thought a female more suited to ruffed grouse than a male?

Coopers are probably the most difficult birds but it simply catches everything ruffed are good match enough for them male or female. another pic for you after a hunt.

Cool!!!
Looking forward to hunting stories with this guy.
I saw some ruffed grouse displaying the other day on the side of the road. Nice looking birds but not really scared at all. Just stood there on a branch looking at us in the car. Luckily my falcon was full cropped, so didn't take much notice, he was unhooded in the back!

Dan,
What exactly is so difficult with coopers? Is it their temperament or what? I have read people saying that coopers are very aggressive and very difficult to train while others seem not to have that problem. And also it seems to depend on what region the coopers origin from or so.
Whatever it is, i would be interested to hear more about it. Also mainly what exactly is more difficult probably than with the european sparrowhawk.
Coopers seem nice but they are still far too expensive here in europe
Nice pointer Dan, if we lived a little closer you'd think i had it's sister

Yes Thanks guys,
I can't tell about the difference between a spar and a cooper's Wilfred but I have found coopers parent reared to be very hard to train wath so ever but once they are kept steady going they catches almost everything they pursuit.
Imprinted or an eyass would be best in my opinion.
Ken: your hood is #1 for him I love the pred8tr hoods as you know !

I like that perch, did you fabricate it yourself?
How do you find it..... any issues with that design?

I do not like this perch Scott, it is only a try. It is called a rotating ring perch or teardrop perch.

Hi Dan, stunning pics of your coops, wow.
Why don't you like this perch: you don't like teh design at all (if so, please explain) or the way this perch is made (I can imagine that the rotating part is not perfect with that bolt)?
Regards, Arnoud
