Here's 1 for you. out flying my FHH and this roe deer gets up and the HH is off after it. The deer doesn't look to worried and trotting off but the HH fliies right up to it and grabs it's backside. The deer shifted then. The bird then lands on the ground and watches it run off. Not sure what it was thinking.

My MHH has gone after roe deer twice now, he did it about 1 week ago, flying at 630grams, and he did it today flying at 646grams. He chased after it, but did fortunately not bind to it. I really donīt know what to do about it. When he was flying at 646grams today, he is still quite keen, but he takes an extra second to think about thing when called to the fist, and he is only almost instantly on follow on, but comes instantly too both lures. He also took a hen pheasant today, maybe he needs to go abit higher. But I flew him at 650grams 2 days ago, and he was not very well behaved, so either he thinks heīs superman, or he can still go a bit up weight. He is a 2005 parent reared, flying free for 1month or so now.

What is one to do?

Heīs a lunatic when something alive is around, but great hunter. High expectation for the little chap.

cheers,
RaZ

rubbish iv been taking deer with dogs for many years . theres not much i havent killed with a dog . so i can say with head held high there nothing more than a big hare . iv bred pups that have taken them a 8 months old in fact i have a pic on my phone of a jap that an 8 month old and a 7 month old bitch took by pure luck when out training having a walk .. dont let a little tusk or antler fool you they are fast and thats your lot.
we had whippets 20lb 19 inch take um..
that pic is deseptive as well bearing in mind its leg below the knee is as thick as your thumb theres not alot to um now if you said they can jump i would agree as iv seen up pop 8 foot release pen side in a one toch jump thats impressive.
im happy to text the picture on my phone of the bitch that took the jap and the deer its self . cos i can atach pics at the mo or get pics from my phone to the pc , all i need is a phone number to text it to.
im not saying its not amasing thing for a harris to take it is and welldone that man and bird. but the fact remains
all the best matt

i had a male harris who flew at 1lb 5 + 3/4oz who flew at roe deer. never binded though but was trying.
funny that, then you get a 2lb 3 oz female who wont fly hares. strange.
muntjack are, i would think, a bit big for a female harris or even a female RT to tackle so yeah, well dont that man and bird. oh, and i think they are a bit more than "a big hare". sorry matt.

Hi

My Female took a young Munkjac as her second kill last year, minutes prior to that she briefly bound to a kicked up fox and did a full on whack at a Roe deer, then proceeded to chase it for a couple hundred through the woods.
