Hey.

My friend rescued a MHH a few weeks back with wing damage. Took him to vet, and they said it was muscle damage to which they prescribed Metecam. He is not in a lot of pain now, however the wing is still really draped and not sure what we should do. Going back to vet on Thursday.
He got the damage as a FHH wacked him on the wing.
Was wondering if anyone has had this happen to any of their birds, and if so, does anyone have any advice they could give in trying to help the MHH out...

Cheers

Jamie

Did the vet x-ray ?? Is there any swelling or heat ?? Was it an avian vet ??
We had a falcon that wacked a fence hard, it appeared to have just a nick in the skin which was treated. Had a full check done for damage by a vet and nothing was found, but the bird would always sit with that wing dropped. It flew fine and when it was unhooded and ready for the off, up would come the wing. We came to the conclusion it had become a kind of habbit and it did slowly happen less and less and didnt drop any more after flying than before. But a full vet check is your best bet to make sure.

No the vet didn't x-ray it when it was there but will be making sure they do tomorrow. There's no swelling or heat on the wing area. Yes it was an avian vet - The Royal Dick (Bush) Vets. Thanks Coedhirion. Bit of exercise needed aswell?...

The vets thoughts that the harris had brain damage as well as the injured wing as the harris didnt even "know" that he had a left wing. No pain or anything coming from the wing which i think should have. They are doing a postmortom (spelling ) and the harris is staying with the dick vets for study purposes so they can learn from whatever was wrong.
