Hello!
Can't find the first thread so...
Shiro is a gyr/saker hybrid bred by Mark Robb (thank you thank you thank you!) He was born 05/05/2005 - easy to remember.
He came out of the aviary at 980g? I think? About 2lb 3. He's flying free at 1lb 11.
He was at wild hack up in scotland so he knows the winds! He's very settled and happy little chappy. He was letting stanger's hold him first day! He stopped baiting by the 5th day or so. Ate off the fist first night.
I was very slow to get him flying free. I have my excuses but to be honest - I made a good few mistakes! I'll put them down as I add to the diary!
For the guys who wanted to know...he's flying free! And yes - he is a spectacular flyer, he turns quite quick but the tree's scare him abit lol. His first flight was in the centre, so we are moving out to the flatter area's ASAP, once the sheep go away. (farmer's wishes) He's quite fit, but me keeping him blocked out so long didnt do him any good, so we're doing vertical jumps to help. We do about 40 a day or so now. On the lure, about 5 passes. Once we're upto 20, I'll get hold of some dead rooks and stuff. He's quite interested in anything that fly's over. Even tried to take on the bald eagle down the centre.
I take him down the centre with me, he's much calmer then the rest of the birds. We walk around, meet ppl and have a good nosey round, give him intro's to tractors and stuff, even trolly's lol.
I couldn't be happier with my bird lol, Shi's the best bird I'll ever own methinks. Cant wait to get hunting. Flying free is fun enough! I have 3 birds atm, the gyr/prarie is with with me for training now, wont take long! His down already (1lb 8 1/2) so he'll be out there takin out pheasant and gulls!)
Thats the info for now, will update when i got the time, but with homework, 3 birds and dodgy legs I'm having fun getting everything done. But I'm coping and I got lots of support!
Thanks to the whole forum, you've all helped me out and given advise and some I listened too and some I didnt when i should have. But Im glad u guys are at the end of the line somewhere. :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
