Looking for some Ideas, I have a breeding chamber and would really like to get some CCTV installed. The main problem is its impossible for me to get electricity to the chamber! Has anyone had the same problem before and if so how have you found a way around it?
Cheers,
HH

i have got two small cctv cameras and i am fixing one to the aviary i use for my rescue birds so that why i can see them with out disturbing them. I had the same problem that i could not have wires going out to it so i got some that a wireless. they can work up to two hundred meters but you can always get a booster to make if futhers. The only thing with the ones i use is that you can not get sound. I got my ones of e bay and they work great

Hi Flying high,
Thanks for the reply, unfortunately the distance is greater to the nearest power supply. I was wondering if it was possible to use a car battery and maybe a solar panel!

just get an electrician to run a line down from the house... last house I had, my aviary and weighing room had its own junction board thing.... an electrician should sort you out.. you may have to do some digging yourself, to bury the armour cable ..but nothings withoput its down side..

The armoured cable the junction box and wire will ost you about 80 100quid and an electrician will TAP into your junction boxin the house and wire if for around 40 quid just dig a channel and bury the cable.... east peasy:yawinkle:

you could try a web cam and record or just view etc... from your computer. only thing you need to find is a lead long enough to put the web cam on...although, saying that...you can just get a cordless one. theres lots of options to look into if you go down this rout

Thanks for the response, unfortunatly its going to be feasible to use electric too far! thats why I wondering if I could use a battery operated system maybe in conjunction with a solar panel!

The screwfix system uses a rechargable battery.

I've got one of these - they run off a 9volt battery but would probably run off 12volts (maybe with a little series resistor) so you could have a car battery toped-up by a solar panel.
You are welcome to borrow it if you want to try it out. If you like it you can buy me a replacement?
I didn't use it as I now have mains out in the shed and run a PC and two USB webcams.
Not sure what the range is but if it's line-of-sight it should be at least a couple of hundred metres.
