Both my son and I have the Marshall's field pistol grip telemetry system transmitting on 173. Both systems were fitted with new batteries in both transmitter and receiver. In direct line of sight with no obsticles we are only picking up the receivers, very faintly at that, at a maxium of 2 miles on the FAR/NARROW settings. We only put the systems to the test after my sons Harris decided to go self hunting and needed tracking down. The systems did locate the bird but only just. Both systems were bought new so any idea's as to why they are not performing very well.

Have you tuned the receiver to the signal, not just selected the channel.......................... You won't get any range on near other than close up. What type of display is it LED red lights or a dial meter ?

won't help if you don't know how to use a telemetry set - whoever makes it :)

No replies,
Did you read the booklet that came with your receiver ? also what make and type is the transmitter ?

Did you rotate the yaggi in both verticle and horizontal plains to obtain the best signal ?

Hope all these pointers improved your knowledge of telemetry.

Jim.

i use and have always used the marshall i love it to bits (sad or what).

you need to get used to fine tuning both volume and annuation knobs. simply setting the channel does not guarentee the best reception.
have you also practiced triangilating your searhes, this will save you a lot of miles.
