whilst i was siving through the net a page came up on heating for the birds and the recomended reptile rocks
the bird can sit directly on top and it costs less than a heater

its the rocks that you put in the vavariums you can get various sizes

how much are we talking and are they suitable for lean to type accomodation?would the thermostates go into overload in such a situation?

i havent used them myself its something you could look into it was only since there was a thread the other week about heating and i couldnt find it so i just thought this might be an option. someone out there may have used them or have reptiles and say there a **** idea then again it might be the bees knees
just passing on what one web page thought

Hi i have had snakes in the passed a boa and also Black rat and texas rat snakes and they heated rocks do not give of that much heat+if you had 1 outside in a mews it would never switch of.
If you are thinking of heating your mews might be better with 1 of they long bar heaters. Pitbull

hi there heat rocks are a bad idea ive seen bad burns when a lizard or snake sits on them constantly, not good for your birds feet....get a tube heater..cheap and effective

I would say not to use hot rocks! i used to breed bearded dragons and snakes not not not a good idea!!

Not enough heat and in the wrong place. a small tube heater fitted under a corner half round platform. None of the bird can contact the heater and get burns and a lot more all round heat. Hot rocks sound a shure fire way to get bumble foot I recon
