You might remember that my Gos went west in June this year. After lots of advertising, and many hours out looking for her, I always seemed to be one step behind.
I was due to fly to the states in the early hours of 6th Oct. Late evening of the 5th I received a call from DEFRA to say that someone had my bird.
Hooray we cried - too soon - some local game keepers had caught her in a pheasant pen (after she had eaten 40 of them- so they say) were now holding her to 'ransom'.
They asked to meet us at a local coutry park later that evening.
As you have properly already guessed they now wanting paying for the 40 (eaten) birds! at £20.00 a head. With a pocket full of US dollars and travellers cheques we knew this was going to be a long night.
After lots of 'heated' discussion we paid up £300.00 ( which we had decided to give as a reward anyway)
Had a great time in the states, came back to a very FIT Gos who has enjoyed the summer wild. Couldn't get much better than that.
So if you have lost a bird, take note and don't give up!
If this seems a bit girlie my wife is the typist! I asked her to give the story some balls!!!

true hawk is right i wanted a live one and it was gonna cost about 30 quid coz thats the money they make to let people shoot them but once their dad she told me their only worth 2 quid and they sell it on, she said she has no live ones coz their all released but u can take the shot ones in the weekend for 2 quid each which i couldnt anyway coz i need to slaughter it
sad thing is we dont know if they were feeding your gos shot ones they shouldnt have charged that price at all mate unless they had to kill live ones specially for it
and so happy for u steve, im glad u got her back bud :)

Just to clarify the situation. The game keepers had only caught her in their pen the previous day, and were saying she had killed the 40 birds in that one day. I asked for the carcuses and said I was willing to pay for them. They told me that they were so angry that they destroyed them all!!
In our 'discussion' I did mention that should the field sports not stick together? but money seemed to to be the main agenda
Thanks for all the comments
