A friend of mine here in Pakistanh flew a couple of passage Bonelli's some years ago. According to him they are like large gosses, but they can be a tad mean at times. He trained his birds like he trained his gosses, and with them he took king herons, flamingoes, pelicans, bustard, hare and a few cranes.

There is no cheap way of obtaining birds of this calibre!

GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If there was, Every muppet and his dog would have one.

The only thing achieved by owning such birds is empty pockets and a bulging bicep.

Neither is particularly appealing to me!

hi turumti
are you sure that your friend hunted pelicans in Pakistan with the help of bonelli?
i'v seen many pelicans in Danube Delta where i worked, and belive me they are huge, tell me more about it
i read abour bonelli killing griffon vultures several time in Spain, if the pelican case is true they are indeed amazing birds.

Theres a bonelli advertised in the Cage and Aviary this week. Comes from Germany! Screwed on importing it! DEFRA has also announced something in the Cage and Aviary regarding importing...

They may indeed take pelicans - where are you planning to fly it St James' Park? From what I've heard and read you'd train and fly it like a gos but it wouldn't be as effective.

I have handled one 5 years ago. She was owned by a guy in Edinborough. she was up for sell too 4500 squids. They guy did not bother with her much, he was more interested in his larger steppe eagle:supz: She has the largest feet poportionately to any eagle I have seen. To be honest I think she looks like a small golden eagle than a big gos (facially). Must be great bird to own.

i travel a lot in Danube Delta, the largest pelican gathering in the world, here you can find the most numerous colonies of white pelicans and dalmatian pelicans too.
these birds are huge , dalmatians can weight as much as 14 kilos , if an bonelli can kill this bird , she is indeed a brave bird .
i do not intend to train a bonelli as an gos, i was just asking if bonelli is better at hares than gos.
yes, gos could be more agile , but the gos 'weaponry " cannot be compared to a bonelli's.
regarding to hares, in my country you can find european hares weighting as much as 7 kilos, i'v seen some gos failing against this hares.
