Just heard this tonight, by word of mouth, haven't got any concrete details on this at the moment so I appologise if this this isn't 100% correct!

Apparently there's a new piece of legislation coming out which means that your not able to sell any animal product i.e rabbit to a butchers or even give to a friend to eat without having a certificate in meat hygiene. The cost of the course is around £117.

That means you won't be able to sell rabbits, game etc to game dealers, pubs etc without being able to prove the traceability of the product! You'll be given a depastch code so if anything goes wrong the product can be traced to its source! Pubs etc who don't abide by this may suffer heavy penalities!

I know for a fact that the Food Standards Agency have already been contacting people and asking very stupid questions;
a women contacted a guy I know because on his licence it states he does stalking! She asked to see where he grallochs and bleeds the deer! where he stores and butchers them.......................

She obviously isn't very well genned up on her job as she would know, when a deer is shot, it has to be gralloched and cleaned within half an hour of being shot (in warmer months) and within an hour normally.Things like knives now have to have rubber or 'boilable' handles; rubber gloves for cleaning out to prevent contamination..................................... ..

If he died or became ill after eating something you had given him.
