Those who bother to read my rather dull and uninteresting posts will have gathered I have been flying birds since Methuselah was a boy. Would someone more up to date explain the workings of what I believe to be called bullet jesses, or toggle jesses, the bullet system, something like that. I have never used this system, nor seen anyone who does. A clear explanation with, if it's not too much trouble, some explanatory photographs would be appreciated.

hi i use them for free flying my male harris it is a simple effective way of slipping and securing your bird. it is a leash incoperating a small swivel and 2 small tereline jesses with two toggles on the end with a rubber securing washer at the back you simply put the toggle through the anklet eyelet and push the rubber washer up to the back of the toggle. and some people say why change something thats not broke but its so simple idiot proof. when you get home simply change back to mews jesses and bobs ya uncle fannys ya aunt.

i use and make them for my falcons as it is easy to put back on and i dont have to put fixed flying jesses on them

If you fly a hawk with them, about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Nothing wrong or beats flying jesses and a clip on the glove, in my opinion.

You can add my opinion to this. It is the same as Jims above statment

I'm all for them, they are safe, quick and easy. Talking about the old days, who still uses leather leashes and just bells instead of telemetry???

That's all very informative, but could I ask once more for someone to post some clear photos of this setup?

bullet jess are fine if the bullet fits the eyelet and the washer is kept pushed up to the back of the eyelet. use them out hunting all the time, never use them on a bow out side. Have looked at a few web sites selling equipment to try and pinch a picture for you, but not found one yet..and its dark outside and mine are in my hunting vest!!

OK curtesy of Northwoods...but the ones mostly used, the 2 jess come already attached to a small swivel and leash. you just push the bullet thro the anklet eyelet and you are away, but this shows the bullet bit

Thanks Coedhirion, for taking the trouble. Much appreciated. I should add, I have no desire to try these, I'm happy with permanent flying jesses, but I'm not yet too old to have an enquiring mind.

Thanks LJ. May I remind you you're not all that far behind in the decrepitude stakes.

Id like to use them for when me bird is on a kill, instead of fiddling around while hes munching his meal
