at the start i mainly helped out with the other animals in the park and did some basic work with the BoP, Equipment fitting and stuff like that. After i got to know the boss and the other staff quite well i was offered to start handling the BoP , Mainly a Harris Hawk called Ruby and a male called cooling. U learn quite a bit doing this sort of stuff but in the end u realy have to find some 1 to take u under their wing beacuse they can only teach u so much.

Hi,
I do voluntary work at the Raptor Foundation near St Ives in Cambs, it is hard work, no doubt about that but I am learning loads. Usually spend 3 hours or so either cleaning out aviaries or the hospital unit. At 12 we have the first flying display for the public and I usually help with that. Ive been doing it since February and am allowed to fly barn owls, hh, buzzards, kestrel, european eagle owls, bengal owls, hybrid owls, canadian horned owls (probably a few more as well).
Only the most experienced of the volunteers (probably 2 or 3 of them) are allowed to fly the falcons or anything else that flys to the lure but in time they will hopefully teach me to do that as well. :D
Take a look at their site www.raptorfoundation.org.uk
Good luck with your voluntary work and I hope you have as much fun with it as I do.

that sounds pretty darn cool!
the place iv emailed are just a small charity, i think they are based at the person house! they just take in injured wild BOP and sort them out and release. They also go to fairs and school and stuff and take in falconers birds when the ownders go on holiday or something.
cheers for all the comments aswell! :supz:
