Hi All, I Am Posting A Plea For Help Here As A Mates Male Harris Has Done A Runner And No Amount Of Searching Has Helped And The Wee Begger Hasnt Been Seen. He Was Lost In Fairly Strong Winds And Hasnt Been Seen Since.

He Was Lost Near To "broughton" In The Borders Region Of Scotland.
I Know A Lot Of Guys Do There Hawking In This Area And Am Urging Them To Keep An Eye Out And Report Any Sightings. We Need Your Help.

Two Days Of Searching Every Tree In A 10 Square Mile Radius Has Turned Up Nothing. One Sighting Which Turned Out To Be A Buzzard Didnt Help As There Are Hundreds Of Buzzards In This Area.

Anyone With Any Info Please Pm Me.

thanks folks.
i put a poster in the local shop and went around the farms.
this morning got a call from a woman who found a hawk in her hen house.
she scared it off then went to the local shop where she saw the poster i put up. she rang up and reported the sighting. she then returned to her chickens and the hawk had returned and killed 2 bantams. she locked the hawk in the hen house and gave us a ring again. she is out all day and wont be back till evening so we are heading back down later.
will keep you updated folks, cheers for your help.

Hi folks, got back too late to post the news.
never came to selling the p.c. thank god.
yes it was him and oh my god, what a size of crop. he was trapped in the coop and the womans son threw a net over him to capture him.
he was put into a pet carrier and left. he was wet, miserable looking and as wild as stink when we got to him. this is the tamest harris i have seen. he is an ex display bird and is used to being held by kids etc. but last night he was a grumpy aggressive wee git. not surprizing given his ordeal. he has been blown about, slept outside for 2 nights, manhandled, and stuck in a wee box for X amounts of hours so i guess he is entitled to be grumpy.

when the woman phoned the first time she mentioned that it had killed 2 silky bantams. my mate offered to pay for any damage, to the reply, "damage? they are dead".
when we arrived it turned out it had ate 2 and killed 4. greedy wee ****.
i had a great laugh when i told my mate they were an ornamental breed and cost about £130 each. imagine his face when she said it killed 4.
he went cap in hand and offered to pay for them but the woman was very nice and refused any compensation. "just take him away" was the reply.
so all is well that ends well???? dunno, she was looking after the chickens for a friend who was on holiday. that will be good.

great to have him back though, he is a wee cracker and would have been very sorely missed. will take a week to come back down to flying weight judging by the size of his crop and will definately need a lot of manning.

on the way back home we watched a barn owl hunting the road verges along a quiet country road, it stayed just in front of the car in the headlights for about 400 yards, while we drove very slowly behind it. it was stunning to watch, very beautiful and an added bonus.

so yeah, he is back home and all is very well. cheers for your input folks, much appreciated. cheers.

hi folks. the guy does have a telemetry set. i was using it on my bird. ooops.
to be fair his wee bird is usually like glue but these things happen. a freak gust of wind took him over the hill and far away. but now he is back to fight another day.

Freak accidents are the reason for telemetry, hope you then buy your own.
